When the first time i get to know about skechup it was call google sketchup but do you know that sketchup was not founded by google but it was developed by a company call Last Software of boulder, Colorado in 1999. it had come a long way since the first sketchup.
sketchup was develop for a general purpose for 3d content creation,that were allow people like us the freedom of working on design.
On 2006, March 14 google acquired @Last Software to develop a plugin for Google Earth.
Google introduce google Sketchup 6 as a free downloadable and Sketchup Pro for a cost, 3d modelling software for everyone to use. The different between the free and the Pro mainly the restricted exporting and importing option for the free version.
On june, 2012, Google sketchup was sold to Trimble Inc. In 2013 sketchup and a new site was provided to host plugin and extension.
